James F. Evans Collection, In: Gajendra Singh, J.H. de Goede, eds. Proceedings of the International Conference on Rural Development Technology : an Integrated Approach, June 21-24, 1977, Bangkok, Thailand. Bangkok, Thailand: Asian Institute of Technology, 1977. p. 771-786., This study involved a socio-economic appraisal of four important components of the Uruli Kanchan project operated by the Bharatiya Agro-Industries Foundation. Analysis of primary and secondary data indicated that success was being achieved. The careful identification and design of programmes based on local resources and needs was seen to be very important for the attainment and sustaining of viability. Integrated rural development projects of the Uruli Kanchan type are undoubtedly capable of significantly improving the quality of rural life in the catchment areas. (original)
