17 pages., via online journal., Social media are transforming communication between organizations and their audiences, and even changing the organizations themselves. Social media's low cost and low requirements for technical skills needed to both use and maintain an online presence allow small businesses with limited marketing budgets to use the same marketing strategies as bigger businesses with large marketing budgets. In addition, social media provides businesses direct and interactive ways to reach out and retain customers. This case study analyzes Cedar Park Farmers Market (CPFM)'s use of its Facebook page. Using Facebook Graph API Explorer, we extracted data regarding posts and fans of CPFM's Facebook page since the page was created. We then examined the data to explore the social networks, including farmers market organizers, vendors, and customers, within CPFM's Facebook page and how the market used its Facebook page, by looking at the Facebook page layout, composition of fans, post intensity, post ownership, media type, and degree of engagement. We found that (1) the market organizers, customers, vendors, and local communities were all engaged with the CPFM Facebook page; (2) the CPFM used Facebook as a marketing platform to publish timely information (e.g., available products or upcoming events) and to reach and retain customers and vendors; and (3) the CPFM's Facebook page functioned as a cyber–social hub to connect and engage the local community.

11 pages., via online journal., In recognition of the importance of communication in extension work and agriculture, this study assessed communication methods used among core sub-programs of the Enugu State Agricultural Development Program (ENADEP). Sixty-three staff were randomly selected to participate in the study. Statistical tools such as percentage, mean score, and factor analysis were used in data analysis. Findings show that a downward (top-down) communication flow was most common, with posters and workshops as primary communication tools. Technology review meetings and training were major situations in which communication occurred, while achievement of ENADEP objectives was the most important motive for communication. Communicator knowledge about subject matter was the top-rated factor that enhanced communication; security/credibility- and human/autocracy-related problems were major constraints to effective communication. The study recommends a de-emphasis on top-down communication approaches and encourages use of digital/information communication technology (ICT) tools to minimize the gap between generation and dissemination of information and its application.

increasing focus on climate change as the major preventable threat
to the health of humanity. The direct associations between climate
change and population health are well documented, as are potential
co-benefits of climate action.1-6
Australia is entering a period of climatic extremes.7,8 The socially stable
and agriculturally productive Northern Rivers region of New South
Wales is set to experience increasing temperatures, storms, flooding and
erosion.9,10 This will likely be compounded by changes in socio/political,
environmental, agricultural and economic systems with resultant
impacts on social and environmental determinants of health.11,12
How might a rural population of 280,000 respond? In 2007,
community resilience to climate change was neither a state nor
federal health promotion priority. The former North Coast Area
Health Service Health Promotion (NCHP) adopted one promising
direction: to foster a collaboration of existing organisations to
accelerate regional action on climate change.13-15 The former NSW
Department of Climate Change funded the pilot project: Resilience:
