Author argued that the emergence of transnational crises and threats such as the avian flu epidemic and climate change call for new ways of analysing news. "...the concept of global journalism is under theoretical development and still in need of a more stringent definition."
"Academic research and policy development are obfuscated by the lack of definitional consensus or, at minimum, some shared understanding of the core aspects of farm-related crisis." Author examines themes and concepts related to farm crisis, agricultural crisis and rural crisis.

search through journal, Despite the fact that groups of alternative and conventional agriculturalist do not differ in their overall scores on an agrarianism scale, their response do differ significantly on several of the agrarianism items and on the items related to agrarianism from a scale designed to assess competing agricultural paradigms. This suggests that there are differences in these groups' agrarian ideologies even though their overall scores on the agrarianism scale are nearly identical. Although divergent agricultural groups support agrarian ideals such as family farms and the farm way of life, the way in which these groups conceptualize and would achieve these ideals appear to be different... Regrettably, I have so little knowledge of these fields that it is better that I say nothing rather than risk generating or perpetuating half-truths. I will also not treat the communication sciences as a separate 'discipline' because of the inherent multidisciplinary character of departments of communication, agricultural journalism, and so on. Persons in these departments have typically been trained in such a wide range of disciplines (including sociology, psychology, journalism, and the humanities) that it is impossible to examine such programs as a single discipline. I will also not treat community development as a discipline."
