Echoes of García Márquez are everywhere in Cali. In one of his earlier books, An Evil Hour, someone keeps leaving notes bearing malicious gossip outside the doors of the inhabitants of a Colombian town. Though the book was published in 1968, the wicked habit its author described is still alive and well."
