It further examines the connection between public journalism and development journalism. The development journalist "should be an active community participant in social change. He or she must go well beyond economics and bring out the inherent drama in development, democracy, and participation."

Findings indicated that for most people, especially the young, the internet provides a new and exciting source of entertainment and a way to communicate with others. More users (51 percent) than non-users (42 percent) said they believe the internet will make the world a better place.
