The biography corrects or rectifies a considerable number of anecdotes, facts, and affirmations relative to the first years of Gabriel García Márquez. Saldívar demonstrates that García Márquez didn't begin writing La hojarasca immediately after his trip to Aracataca in 1952, but rather three years later.
